Recipe of Rava Sheera | How to Make Sooji Sheera, Quick & Easy Rava Halwa

Unknown | Friday, October 31, 2014 | |
Sooji halwa or Rava Sheera is a very famous indian dessert commonly made in every household. It is considered very auspicious to make Rava Sheera during religious festivals. In my hometown Rava Sheera is normally made to celebrate good news like exam results, elder's birthdays or promotions :). It is very easy to make Rava Sheera and it is ready in minutes. It also does not require any advance preparation.  It requires very few ingredients easily available at home. Rava sheera is smooth in texture, sweet to taste, loaded with ghee(clarified butter) and full of dry fruits. So lets proceed step by step.

We just require ingredients which are easily available in our house. Ingredients are rava/sooji, sugar and dry fruits like Cashewnuts, almonds and pistachio.

In a deep bottom vessel boil water.

I have made this sheera using water you can even make it with milk. If you are using milk then boil milk in a deep bottom vessel.

Heat ghee/clarified butter in a thick bottom pan.

As the ghee melts lower the flame and add suji.

Roast the suji on low flame by continuously stirring till it turns golden brown. When the suji will be roasted you will get nice aroma.

In the below picture you can see the color of rava has changed slightly.

Now add the water we had keep for boiling.

Stir well and and cover the lid and cook for a few minutes. After water evaporates add sugar.

Cook on low flame till all the water evaporates.

Garnish it with dry fruits and serve hot.

This Rava Sheera I had specially prepared on occasion of  my grand mother in laws birthday. She has turned 80 this year.

Happy Birthday Baa !!

Tips
1.If you use less ghee the sheera will become dry.
2.You can add cardamom seeds to the halwa, as I don't like the taste I have skipped it.
3.Suji can easily burn so never leave it unattended on gas. Stir continuously while roasting.
4.You can add dry fruits while you are roasting rava also.
