Aloo Pakoras
Besan/Gram flour is a popular ingredient used in indian kitchen. The gram flour is used to make many delicious dishes like sweets, pakoras, savoury  etc. As gujaratis we use gram flour in many dishes like Batata vada, Bharva Mirchi, Patra etc. Its healthier than compared to maida/all purpose flour. Today I made the simple and easy Batata Bhajiya or "Patri na Bhajiya" like we call it in Gujarat. When you have surprise guests and you want to make something in jiffy without too much effort Batata Bhajiya are the best and easiest option. Batata Bhajiya as we call it gujarati is a favourite snack at home served hot with tea and three different kinds of chutneys :). So lets proceed step by step.

In a bowl sieve gram flour and add salt and black pepper powder.

Now add water and make a fine besan paste by stirring with a spoon.

While making Batata Bhajiya/Aloo Pakoras make sure you select potatoes which are big in size. So that the potato slices will be big and pakoras will look nice.

Peel the potatoes and cut them into very thin slices with the help of slicer. If you don't have slicer you can just cut it with knife. Make sure the slices are thin otherwise the aloo pakoras will be uncooked.

Dip the slices into the besan paste we prepared.

Heat oil for frying in deep bottomed pan. After the oil is hot lower the flame to medium high. Add the dipped potato slices coated with besan in hot oil.

Once you add the potato slices cook them from both the sides till they turn golden brown.

In the below picture you can see that the bhajiyas are cooked from both the sides golden brown.

Now drain the bhajiyas on kitchen towel and our Batata Bhajiya/Potato Fritters/Aloo Bhajji are ready.

Serve Batata Bhajiya/Potato Fritters/Aloo Bhajji with your favourite chutney.
